Pork Salsa Burgers

Makes 10 burgers 1kg lean pork mince 100g finely chopped red onion 100g salsa sauce* (see salsa recipe on page 13) *This can be one of the many pre-made versions now available. 100g low fat cheddar cheese, grated.

Preparation method

Thoroughly combine the pork mince with the finely chopped red onion, salsa and grated cheese. Form into 10 balls and shape into burgers by moulding between burger foils. Place onto a suitable tray to set in the refrigerator. Cook as required. Avoid a watery marinade; if the mix is too wet add 1 tsp arrowroot to the recipe. Serve with fresh salad. ‘Kitchen fresh burgers’ are a Group 4 product which allows them to be served once every two weeks. They can be served with extra salad in wholemeal buns to make a balanced meal. The burgers could be made half size and served as a break time or breakfast time snack.
