Abstract
Brakes is launching the pizzini, a nutritionally compliant grab-and-go cheese and tomato pizza, in schools across the UK in early 2014 after success in Scotland since its release a year ago. A new cheese and ham variant is also set to roll out.
Brakes business unit director for schools Wayne Tessier said: “The pizzini concept was launched in partnership with Cosmo’s Pizzas, a small and medium enterprise based in Bonnyrigg, Scotland, with input from South Lanarkshire and Glasgow City Councils.
“Designed to encourage pupils to eat in school instead of visiting local fast-food outlets, the wholemeal-based pizzini has been a big hit with schoolchildren and caterers. Brakes now sells around 6,000 cases every month.
