Abstract
LifeVac is a new single-suction anti-choking device that has a one-way patented valve. When applied, it only sucks up and does not push air down, and is able to create three times more pressure than the abdominal thrust and chest compressions of a trained first-aider.
Now available in the UK, the products are already being deployed in schools, in care and nursing homes, in restaurants and among local authorities.
It was invented by Arthur Lih from Long Island, New York, who came up with the idea after hearing about a child the same age as his daughter who choked on a grape and died.
