Abstract
The catering equipment company promises to plant up to ten trees for every warewashing or icemaking system that it sells, depending on the size of the machine.

Carbon absorption is just one of the ways this initiative benefits others; it also contributes to improved air qualities, prevention of species extinction and job opportunity for those in deprived areas. The trees are planted through a global reforestation platform, as the company looks at how it can reduce its impact on the planet.

Bob Wood, director at DC Warewashing and Icemaking Systems, said: “Planting trees helps increase CO2 capture through a plant’s growth, this initiative gives our customers confidence that their purchase is playing a part in reducing the negative effects caused by deforestation across the world.

“As proud sponsors of the Catering Insight Award for Distributor of the Year – Corporate Social Responsibility, this fantastic award has helped inspire us to further consider ways of minimising DC’s impact on the world.

“We’re always looking at different ways of making our products more sustainable. All our machines are manufactured to reduce energy consumption and water usage, offsetting some of the energy used in their manufacture by planting trees is yet another way we can reduce our company’s impact on the planet.”

The DC systems incorporate the latest technology and are ‘specifically’ designed to meet the demands of catering outlets.
