Abstract
The theatre and drama of serving coffee can be appealing, but to get the best from a traditional machine requires the skill of a trained barista, according to Matthew Tuffee, UK sales and marketing manager, La Cimbali, the world’s largest coffee equipment manufacturer.

He said that was why manufacturers such as Cimbali were making it easier to achieve a top quality cup of coffee every time with a new breed of super automatic machine which are both simple to operate yet guarantee a consistent taste and quality across the beverage menu.

“There is no doubt that when in the right hands, a traditional machine makes the best espresso possible,” he says.

“However, a traditional machine is not necessarily the best choice in certain applications such as quick serve operations and the cost sector, especially when there are peaks and troughs in demand for beverages and where the main priority is not the coffee.”

Where demand is unlikely to exceed 100 beverages a day, he says the Cimbali Q10 is a robust, top quality fully automatic machine and at just 35 cm wide, very compact.

“The key functions such as dosing and grinding the coffee, heating the water and frothing the milk are pre-programmed into the Q10 by Cimbali on delivery, leaving the guests free to enjoy the taste and aroma of freshly ground coffee, all at the push of a button.”

Other options include the Cimbali M1 S10 Turbo Steam machine, a good choice for busy outlets as it can serve up to 200 espressos an hour if needed.

“The coffee is freshly prepared and the Turbo-Steam function which heats and froths the milk adds some theatre which goes down well with customers. The system also allows a customized milk temperature to be pre-set for each drink, which is a useful feature.”

Cimbali, which is celebrating 100 years in the industry in 2012, offers a hot beverage solution for all applications across the food service spectrum.
