What is jackfruit?
Jackfruit is the world's lergest tree-borne fruit. Each jackfruit can weigh up to 100 pounds, and each tree can produce up to 200 jackfruit each year. Young, green jackfruit has a mild flavour which abosbs and complements the spcies and seasonings its cooked with. It has a meaty, dense texture that shreds like pulled pork, making young jackfruit a versatile centrepiece for whole food, plant-based diets in nerly every cuisine. As jackfruit becomes more mature, it sofents, sweetens and its flavour becomes distinctly tropical, like a blend of pineapple and banana. It becomes a perfect ingredient for smoothies, fruit salads and frozen desserts.
