The 5” buns come with a 42-day guaranteed minimum life from delivery to depot for long-lasting freshness. The ambient nature of the buns means caterers can maintain quality whilst reducing cost when compared with frozen bread products.
This is because there is no need to thaw and serve, and no risk of impacting quality when refreezing products that aren’t used on the first thaw. Crucially, it also gives caterers the chance to free up freezer space for higher margin meat products.
Scott Oakes, commercial manager for Baker Street, said: “Ambient bread products offer the ultimate in convenience, with no need to thaw and serve, which also enables better forecasting.
“Baker Street already offers a wide range of breads and bakery products across retail and foodservice sectors, which means outlets can have complete confidence in the quality and freshness of the product.
“Foodservice has long been a key market for Baker Street and whilst sales inevitably dipped during the lockdown period compared with our retail side of the business, it is encouraging to see an uplift every month as the catering sector returns to growth.
“This launch adds another SKU to our foodservice range, supporting that return to growth with new products that help caterers to overcome common challenges of frozen buns in particular.”
