Wrights Pies boss pedals for pounds
Abstract
Wrights Food Group CEO Peter Wright swapped pies for pedals during a recent 10-kilometre charity bike-a-thon, helping raise several thousand pounds in the process.

The group which has 17 sites across the Potteries and North Staffordshire, as well as supplying produce to quick service restaurants, pubs and foodservice sectors.

The cycling challenge, organised by Mo Chaudry - founder of North Staffordshire’s M Club - was organised to mirror the effects of former Stoke City FC player Thomas Sorensen who recently cycled 4,000 miles across America in aid of sick and underprivileged children, and University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM).

Wright powered through the 10-kilometre cycle race against the clock, held at Trent Vale’s M Club, alongside Stoke City FC CEO Tony Scholes; Steelite International CEO Kevin Oakes; John Pointon & Sons Ltd CEO Martin Pointon and University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust CEO, Mark Hackett.

The Wrights boss completed the challenge in 13 minites and four seconds, less than two minutes behind Chaudry who finished in 11 minutes and 40 seconds.

Wright said: “It was quite a tough challenge, especially with the added pressure of trying to beat Mo’s time.”

“It was a brilliant event to be a part of, and we’re delighted we could help raise funds for such a great cause. I’m pleased Wrights were able to get involved, and look forward to hearing the total funds raised.”

Chaudry said: “We were delighted we could help support Thomas Sorensen’s fundraising efforts, and thankful for the support from Peter and the other businesses who took part.”

M Club members and the general public were also invited to jump on a bike and contribute towards a 4000 mile mark, seeking sponsorship for their efforts.
