Jennings will now work alongside three other development chefs at the company’s Crewe headquarters, cooking up new dishes and recipe ideas.
He said: “We’re innovators, not followers and always looking for inspiration for new and exciting dishes.
“Every day is different. I’ll often arrive here at 7.30am having done a shop on the way in to see what new ingredients the supermarkets have introduced, and whether they can be included in what we’re doing.”
Jennings will focus on Wrights’ recently revitalized ready meal range, which is aimed primarily at the foodservice sector, and in turn restaurants, pubs and cafés.
Sue Gwilliam, Wrights head of new food development, said: “We’re delighted with Ian’s appointment, Ian will help develop our food offer, and he’ll play an important role in the expansion of our product range across ready meals, savouries, cakes and desserts.
"He’s a very talented chef, who brings with him a wealth of experience from a variety of interesting sources.”
