Abstract
WRAP has announced that Kenwood, Lidl and Panasonic are confirmed sponsors for Food Waste Action Week (FWAW), which is due to take place from 6-12 March 2023.

Focussing on the theme ‘Win. Don’t Bin’ the week encourages people to make their food go further by demonstrating how using up all the food they buy saves time and money. WRAP has also released a partner pack to enable people and businesses to start planning on how to get involved in FWAW.

WRAP estimates that 1.1 million tonnes of food are wasted every year from UK homes because of preparing, cooking, or serving too much. That’s one-quarter of all food wasted for this reason, costing people £3.5 billion. Around 4.5 million tonnes is food that could have been eaten and is worth approximately £14 billion (or £60 a month for an average family with two children).

Catherine David, director of collaboration and change at WRAP: “Food Waste Action Week’s aims to cut household food waste and fight the climate crisis. With costs of our weekly food shops rising, there has never been a more important time to help households reduce their food waste.

“The rising cost of living is putting many households under increased budgetary pressures and reducing the amount of food wasted in the home is a simple way to save money and time. Download the Partner Pack to be a part of this important campaign that will help people’s pockets and the planet."
