Winners of the waste2zero awards announced
Abstract
The 2019 waste2zero awards, which recognise ‘excellence’ in waste management for the foodservice industry, has announced the 12 winners.

Now in its third year the waste2zero awards give the out of home industry a platform to showcase their progress in their attempts to reduce waste. The aim of the awards is to encourage organisations to take waste more seriously.

Food waste is one of the biggest challenges to the foodservice and the hospitality industry. Around one million tonnes of food is wasted every year and 75% of this is ‘avoidable.’

Compass Group UK & Ireland, which operates catering contracts across schools, hospitals, care homes and military bases, won the Best Waste Prevention Project Award (food). The winner of the Best Recycling Project (in the public sector) was Klockner Pentaplast.
