The winners were announced at an event held at the House of Commons hosted by MP Mike Freer, who said: “These awards are crucial for the industry and I commend People 1st for this important initiative. I congratulate all the winners and wish them every success in their careers.”
Simon Tarr, People 1st managing director, who co-hosted the event, added: “Our research shows that our industries will have 2.8m job opportunities by 2022, with 600,000 skilled and management job vacancies.
“It therefore vital that we encourage people to enter and stay in the industry and apprenticeships are the best way to do this.
“These awards promote the industry as a great place to work, highlight the value apprentices can offer, and celebrate those who play an essential role in supporting apprentices on their chosen career path.
“The passion and enthusiasm of everyone involved – the young people, their employers and those who came to support them – points to a great future for our industries.
“We were also delighted to celebrate the work of our dedicated groups of employers that have formed trailblazers to implement the government’s apprenticeship reforms. People 1st is acting on behalf of trailblazer employers to develop new apprenticeship standards for the hospitality, travel, retail and passenger transport industries.”
Kathryn Porter, Hilton Worldwide and Chair of the Hospitality Trailblazer stressed the value of the People 1st apprenticeship awards saying: “It’s so important to shout about the great opportunities to develop award winning skills in the industry.
“Attracting new recruits can be challenging so the Hospitality Trailblazer is doing everything it can to make the new Apprenticeships even better with clear career progression pathways.”
