Specialists from food and public health industries will meet at the Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum on February 3rd 2015 to discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding national obesity and key sugar consumption issues.

The event promises to debate key issues raised by the planned report on carbohydrates by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) as well as policy plans and outcomes that were detailed in the recent NHS Five Year Forward View.

Other areas of interest include the discussion of Public Health England’s proposals to widen restrictions on food advertising and plans to launch targeted sugar consumption campaigns.

Luciana Berger MP, Shadow Minister for Public Heath, will chair the Forum alongside Russell Brown MP, Shadow Scotland Minister, and the All-Party Parliamentary Food and Drink Manufacturing Group.

A variety of keynote speakers, including Dr Susan Jebb, Chair, Public Health Responsibility Deal Food Network, Department of Health as well as representatives from different nutrition organisations present the opportunity to engage with policymakers and other interested parties at the event.
