The conference aims to bring together key stakeholders and policymakers including Dimbleby, who is leading the first National Food Strategy in 75 years to investigate the entire food chain from ‘farm to fork’.
Dimbleby will deliver a keynote speech on the progress of the National Food Strategy discussing social welfare, trade and tackling deprivation through expanding the eligibility of Free School Meals. There will be an opportunity for the virtual audience to ask questions.
Minette Batters, president of the National Farmers Union will explore key priorities for the agricultural sector and Stephanie Slater, founder and chief executive of School Food Matters, will highlight the need for vulnerable children to access nutritious food.
Stakeholders will also talk about their perspectives on Part Two of the National Food Strategy, which is expected to be published early next year. Topics that will be discussed include Covid-19 and its impact, policy co-ordination and food security.
The stakeholder perspectives will come from Emily Miles chief executive of the Food Standards Agency, Ian Wright chief executive of the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) and Stefano Agostini chief executive of Nestle UK.
