Welcome Break has been a supporter of the charity for the past eight years, and the amount raised beat last year’s achievement of £575,000.
Rod McKie, CEO of Welcome Break, said: “Everyone at Welcome Break is thrilled with how much money we have raised for BBC Children in Need through an outstanding team effort. We are very proud of our partnership with this charity and are overjoyed that the results of our fundraising will make such a difference to so many lives across the country. A huge thank you too, to our loyal customers for their generosity throughout our fundraising activities!”
McKie too part in his own 24-hour challenge this month, as he and a team of superheroes travelled from Scotland to Hartshead Moor in 24 hours, visiting all 27 Welcome Break sites on the way. He raised £8,827 for Children in Need.
Welcome Break has also been praised for its services by some of the major brands within its stations, including Starbucks, Subway, Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts.
Starbucks named Welcome Break the UK Licensee of the Year at its annual Starbucks Managers’ Conference, whilst Subway announced the provider was 2015 Non-Traditional Worldwide Developer of the Year.
Welcome Break’s Dunkin’ Donuts team received the award for Development Excellence at the brand’s 2015 Europe Regional Meeting. Finally, Burger King recognised the provider for ‘driving the strongest traffic results in 2015’ for the UK and Ireland.
