Welcome break raises children need money
Abstract
Service station operator Welcome Break has raised over £575,000 for BBC Children in Need, a record-breaking total for the company which has been a proud supporter for the charity for seven years.

Newport Pagnell, the location of both the Welcome Break head office, and the service station on the M1, raised £141,000 and the service stations sold BBC Children in Need merchandise at the 27 sites throughout the UK.

The Trossachs Challenge saw Welcome Break staff, including CEO Rod McKie, and the CEO of Children in Need David Ramsden take part in a mountain bike and hike to raise £58,000.

Rod McKie, CEO of Welcome Break, said: “Once again we are astounded by the generosity of our staff and customers, and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped our fundraising efforts.

“Welcome Break raised a grand total of over £575,000 this year and we are thrilled to know that this sum will make a difference to many lives.”

The BBC Children in Need Appeal Night took place on Friday 14th November. Every penny from the money raised will go towards providing grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged.

BBC Children in Need is currently supporting around 2,600 projects that are working with children facing a range of disadvantages for example, poverty and deprivation; children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect or disabled young people.

Welcome Break, established in 1959, is one of the UK’s leading independent motorway service operators and has 27 sites across the UK, attracting 80 million motorway customers annually.
