The Public Sector Catering Expo, which is taking place from 31 October to 1 November 2023 at the NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, is a unique event that brings together buyers, decision makers and influencers from across the entire industry.
Sam is a life-long vegetarian, now vegan, and she has a wealth of experience having worked in the catering industry for more than 15 years. Maz has a passion for fantastic flavours and teaches on a wide range of courses.
A spokesperson for The Vegetarian Society said: “By enhancing your plant-based offering, you’ll cater for a range of dietary requirements, save money and help customers get their five a day. We can show you how to deliver suitable vegetarian and vegan options with our training. We work with schools, hospitals and councils across the country, teaching catering staff how to make sustainable plant-based food.
“There are so many advantages to having a varied selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. As well as boosting food sales, plant-based food can be more cost-effective, is more environmentally sustainable and allows you to cater to a wider variety of dietary requirements.
“We can help you to adapt your existing recipes or, if preferred, teach you how to make new options which are specially crafted for bulk cooking in canteens. We understand that you may have guidelines for the food you can purchase, as well as strict budgets – this why we tailor our training to fit your specific situation and requirements.”
The Expo, which is free to attend, is the only national event to bring together chefs and caterers from across all areas of the public sector – from schools to hospitals, universities, catering colleges, the social care sector, and prisons through to the military.
Other cookery demonstrations taking place include:
- Raheem Morgan, LACA School Chef of the Year 2023 (12.15pm, day one)
- Brain Preston, NACC Care Chef of the Year 2023 (12.15pm, day two)
- Kath Breckon and Paul Hawkins from Knorr (2pm, day two)
