Veganuary 2022 releases campaign review

Veganuary, the global organisation encouraging people to try vegan in January and beyond, has released its 2022 campaign review.

More than 629,000 people signed-up from 228 countries and together they spared more than 2.16 million animals from suffering in just a month. Throughout January at least 1,561 new vegan products and menu options were launched globally.

Ria Rehberg, chief executive of Veganuary, said: “Veganism isn’t standing in the corner anymore; it’s become a popular choice that many of the world’s largest food businesses are embracing as the big new thing. We do have a long road ahead, but each year we are getting a few steps closer. Today we celebrate the millions of people who have chosen plant-based, the thousands of media outlets showcasing the benefits of a vegan diet and the hundreds of businesses who are embracing the future.”

The 2022 campaign in numbers:

  • More than 4,351 media stories were published about Veganuary
  • 2.4 million people visited the Veganuary website for helpful tips
  • The hashtag #Veganuary had over 550 million views on Tik Tok at the end of January 2022
  • Top five sign-ups per country included: USA, UK, India, Germany and Italy.

Deborah Meaden added: “Taking part in Veganuary helped me change how I eat, and now my diet is the best for animals, the planet and for me. If the climate crisis, animal suffering or the loss of wild places and species concerns you, sign up, take part and let Veganuary help you, too.”
