Abstract
The Vegan Society has created an eBook packed with 'veganised' classic recipes, blogs and tips to encourage people to make ‘one little switch’.

According to research by Oxford University if everyone followed a plant-based diet, food-related climate emissions would fall by 70%. Animal farming takes up around 83% of farmland but only provides 18% of the calories.

A separate survey found around one in four non-vegans who had previously indicated they would be open to trying a plant-based diet in the future, said they did not know ‘where to start’. The society’s Plate Up for the Planet campaign aims to help people take the first steps on their vegan journey by switching to animal product alternatives.

Hannah Coyne, campaign manager at The Vegan Society, said: “We want to show that every journey begins with a single step – whether it’s swapping dairy milk for a plant alternative or using lentils in place of minced meat. Following a vegan diet can drastically reduce our carbon footprint while also being tasty, healthy and affordable so there’s no reason not to give it a try. Collectively, we can make a difference to the health of the planet – billions of lives depend on it.”

The eBook contains several easy vegan recipes including buckwheat crepes, chocolate-for-breakfast porridge, red pepper pesto pasta, coronation chickpea sandwiches and lentil bolognaise.

Each recipe contains an ingredients list, instructions, an image of the finished dish, the expected cooking time and how many people the recipe will feed. To download the eBook, visit here.
