Veg Power increases team with two new appointments
Abstract
Veg Power, who run the Eat Them To Defeat Them Campaign, has appointed Rachel Nunns to its schools team and Alex Tyrie as campaign director.

Rachel, who is a former primary school head teacher, will benefit the Veg Power schools team whilst Alex has over 25 year of experience in marketing and communications. Alex will focus on leading Veg Power’s content to support parents by developing new and existing partnerships to ensure the content reaches as many families across the UK.

Dan Parker, chief executive of Veg Power said: “Our two new recruits are exciting new additions to our core team. Both Rachel and Alex bring mountains of valuable skills and experience that will have a tremendous impact on our work and help Veg Power to continue to increase the UK’s veg consumption.”

The 2024 Eat Them to Defeat Them campaign reached 620,000 children from 2,375 primary and special schools. Over the last six years, through a combination of over £20m of advertising and the schools’ programme 1.7m children from over 5,000 primary and special schools have benefited from the campaign.

The campaign supported an increase in vegetable consumption in not only children participating in the schools’ programme but their parents too. According to research 80% of children are not eating enough vegetables and a third of children eat less than a portion a day.

Veg Power also runs Growing to Love, a tomato growing project that supports children’s learning about food, its origins and growth, while also encouraging vegetable acceptance. Last year it reached 21,000 children from 375 primary schools across the UK.
