Vacherin gets healthy
Abstract
Vacherin’s Health Matters campaign is taking healthy eating in the workplace to a new level.

Health Matters is a series of monthly promotions, tackling a different healthy eating issue that is significant to customers’ lifestyles and work environments.

Each promotion features clear dietary advice from Vacherin’s own nutritionist, Gary Baverstock, and is linked to specific dishes within Nutritious & Delicious, the company’s award-winning healthy eating range. Baverstock singles out the ‘superfoods’ from within the range and clearly highlights their nutritional powers.

In addition, customers are provided with different specialist dietary information and lifestyle advice from the Vacherin team with take home information too, along with samplings and special offers from selected brand partners showcasing the latest innovative healthy eating products that link to the promotion.  For example, Vita Coco Water, which is naturally low in calories and fruit sugar and contains a plethora of vitamins, minerals, proteins and antioxidants, proved the perfect partner for Summer Bodies.

Baverstock explained: “Health Matters empowers our customers with knowledge and clear choices to take control of their own eating habits and make long-term positive changes to improve body and mind health.  Rather than simply highlighting the nutrients present in each dish and telling customers they are healthier, we are explaining the beneficial impact each nutrient can have on mental and physical performance, so that a holistic approach to food selection can be taken.

"By matching this valuable information with specific foods from the Nutritious & Delicious range, we are giving people the tools and confidence to make the right choices in line with their own personal needs and health goals.”

This new innovation for 2014 also fulfils the company’s keen CSR programme as Vacherin’s marketing manager, Keeley Haworth, explains: “Feeding up to 10,000 people a day is a big responsibility and we wanted to launch a health promotion campaign that educated people in health and nutrition but that was also fun!

“Health Matters is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate to our customers that we care about their health and wellbeing and that it is a long-term commitment.  All caterers have a responsibility to provide healthy options but to us, it is so much more than simply offering a few dishes to ‘tick a box’.

"We want to work with our customers and empower them to make genuine positive lifestyle choices.  The key is great food choices along with nutritional education and handy information to take away.  This is what Health Matters offers, and this is why it is proving so popular with our customers.”
