Vacherin crowns its best barista at championship final
Abstract
Oliver Isiuwa has been crowned Vacherin’s number one barista, claiming the title at the final of the Vacherin London Barista Coffee Championship.

The London caterer named Oliver as its top barista for his exceptional technical skills, knowledge and coffee flair.

The Vacherin London Barista Coffee Championship was developed in recognition and celebration of the increasingly vibrant and exciting coffee culture in London.

The finalists were challenged to produce two espressos, two cappuccinos and two lattes within a ten-minute period, with the judging panel of discerning coffee drinkers and experts looking for prowess in technical execution, balance of flavour and presentation.

Simon Macfarlane, Vacherin’s head of operations, said: “The overall standard of the finalists, and indeed all the competitors throughout the competition, was incredibly high and I congratulate them all.

“I was hugely impressed by their positive attitudes, capabilities and commitment to excellence across the board, from presentation and taste through to technical skill.

“As a result, the winning margin was extremely tight but Oliver executed his latte art to perfection and it was this that won the judges over and ultimately clinched him the title.”

The grand final of the Vacherin London Barista Coffee Championship took place at Maudsley Learning’s ORTUS event centre in Camberwell, London.

The finalists of the Vacherin London Barista Coffee Championship were:

  • John Pinto – Maudsley Learning
  • Orsola Kiraly – Bain
  • Loredana Loi – Imagination
  • Ewelina Hydizic – CBRE SMC
  • Oliver Isiuwa – Battersea Power Station
