Abstract
Sussex Food, the Chartwells-run operation catering for students at the University of Sussex, has launched several new concepts to its Eat Central location.

These include vegan Greek wraps, using a variety of best meat substitutes, Caribbean classics such as jerk chicken and brown stew chicken, Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and loaded hot dogs. Alongside these tasty and popular handheld street food options, students have also been introduced to an improved salad bar as well.

Meanwhile, the university’s vegetarian and vegan Dhaba Café is now delivering a new rotating two-week menu at its salad bar with the options available at different times including bowls full of tomato and mozzarella salad, potato salad, kale slaw and a range of improved dressings. Also on the menu are Caribbean curries and vegan pie and mash as well as vegan and gluten-free cake ranges.

And the catering team is rolling out new ‘made fresh daily’ ranges of sandwiches across different cafes, including mozzarella, pastrami, and ham sandwiches available in Library Café, as well as a mozzarella and tomato option in ACCA café.

At other outlets students can find breakfast muffins, cheesy croissants and chicken paninis. Sussex Food is also planning some pop-ups in the months to come, which will feature student favourites such as bao buns, Hawaiian poke and cheesecake.
