Abstract
Unilever Foodsolutions and ISS Facility Services, Healthcare, have joined forces to help raise funds for the Kericho District Hospital, Kenya, where Unilever's tea estate is located.
A total 10% of the profit of all cups of PG tips and Lipton tea sold between October and December in the 40 UK hospitals run by ISS FS Healthcare will be donated to the hospital.
The donations will be used to improve the paediatric ward, provide cervical cancer screening for the community in partnership with the Unilever Central Hospital in Kericho, and to renovate the hospital theatre.
This fundraising initiative is a first for both ISS FS Healthcare and Unilever Foodsolutions, which hope to sell more than 67,000 cups of tea during the six-week initiative.
Claire Sullivan, marketing director, Unilever Foodsolutions explained: "Unilever provides medical care to 120,000 employees and their dependents, so it's vital that they have the right equipment. "We are absolutely delighted that ISS FS Healthcare is partnering with us on this initiative and I am sure that staff, patients and guests at the hospitals will be happy to support us so that they, too, can give something back. Every cup of tea sold will help the Kericho hospital to purchase essential equipment and contribute to improved health services in the local community."
Andy Jones, service development director, ISS FS Healthcare, commented: "To say that I am excited about this project would be an understatement! This partnership with Unilever Foodsolutions shows our commitment to help those less fortunate and is driven by our genuine desire and determination to help another hospital. I believe this initiative will be highly successful and I cannot wait to see the rewards for Kericho."
