Held at UFS’ head office in Leatherhead, Surrey, guests enjoyed a selection of sandwiches and cakes with a cup of tea.
In attendance with Chelsea Pensioners was Caroline Lecko, patient safety lead at NHS England; and Neel Radia, national chair of the National Association of Care Caterers (NACC).
Caroline Lecko said: “It was lovely to see everyone engaging, laughing and having fun.
“It just goes to show how eating and drinking and something as simple as bringing people together over a cup of tea and a cake is an experience that makes a huge difference to people.
“It’s so important for care home residents to socialise and enjoy these kind of activities.”
Around the country UFS helped over 600 care homes to run their own tea parties. Supported by PG tips, Monkey and an activity pack made up of a selection of games, recipes, posters and other inspiration, they were able to help homes create an extra buzz around their tea parties.
