Abstract
On Saturday 6th of October Camden market will welcome the UK’s first vegan Oktoberfest - Vegtoberfest. The event will be held at Camden’s new venue, Fest.

The Bavarian themed celebration will couple the traditions of Oktoberfest with vegan beer and street food.

Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volksfest (a large event in Germany combining predominantly beer, wine and a funfair). For those interested, Vegtoberfest looks set to carry on this merry tradition. Alongside vegan Bavarian beers will feature local vegan craft ales, wines and cocktails.

The average pint in fact uses animal products. In order to make the beer clear and more appealing, isinglass (a gelatine that is made using the swim bladder of a fish) is used as a fining agent to strain the beer. Vegan beer uses other alternatives such as seaweed.

For those wanting to take in the full experience, there will be a range of vegan Bratwurst with all the trimmings at the Brat Grill. The festival is set to make use of the venue’s wood-fired pizza oven where a selection of vegan Bavarian themed pizzas will be served.

The exciting Camden club will be transformed into a Bavarian style beer hall. Guests are invited to enjoy their beer steins while live music, comedy and a Bavarian Oompah Band will play throughout the evening. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
