Abstract
UK diners have spoken, revealing that they would like to see more out-of-home outlets celebrate Thanksgiving (22 November).

New research from Moy Park Foodservice this month found that 60% of consumers would attend a Thanksgiving celebration featuring an American-theme at a UK restaurant or pub, with 53% saying they would like to see more sites mark the occasion.

It comes as MCA claims American-style food is being eaten more and more, with chicken topping the charts as the food most eaten out of home.

Frannie Santos-Mawdsley, senior customer marketing manager at European Foodservice (owner of Moy Park Foodservice), said: “Much like where its autumn counterpart of Halloween was 15 years ago, Thanksgiving is growing in interest in the UK, with our research showing a healthy consumer curiosity for marking it.

“This should be seen as an incremental profit opportunity for outlets and to drive footfall. The marketing opportunities are many.”
