Abstract
UCC Coffee UK & Ireland has challenged students to design new packaging for its out of home coffee range - Grand Café.

The creative brief, which is part of the Annual YCN Student Awards programme, asks students and recent graduates to visually revitalise the look and feel of the coffee brand, which is served by thousands of contract caterers, restaurants, pubs and foodservice operators.

Nicole Hartnell, brand manager at UCC Coffee UK & Ireland, said: “It’s time to refresh our Grand Café brand so that its packaging reflects its market leading status, ethical credentials and distinctive taste. We want it to take pride of place on display in our customer’s outlets, rather than hidden behind the counter. With so many aspects to Grand Café, it’s perfect for students to get creative with.”

To be in with the chance of seeing their designs on the coffee, students are being asked to submit a design that is in line with the strong ethical credentials of the coffee range.  Each blend in the Grand Café range is certified by either Rainforest Alliance, Soil Association, Fairtrade or certified by all three.

Students have until 11.59pm GMT on Thursday 24 March 2016 to submit their designs. More information on the YCN Student Awards can be found at www.ycn.org/awards/ycn-student-awards/2015-16-ycn-student-awards
