Two Nutrition & Hydration Week founders to step back from roles
Abstract
When Nutrition and Hydration Week (17-23rd March) finishes this year, two of the three founders will step back from being involved in overseeing the week.

Caroline Lecko and Derek Johnson will step back and no longer be involved with the week after 15 years.

Lecko said: “I have enjoyed the journey with the week seeing it grow and people keep sharing their good practices and ideas has been fantastic. From such humble beginnings the week grew beyond our expectations and was achieved above and beyond our day jobs, it is now time to step away and hopefully the week can continue to move forward."

Both have decided to step back as they are no longer involved in the day to day operations of health and social care and feel the week needs people who are involved in regular frontline operations to keep it current and moving forward.

Johnson added: "Never in our wildest dreams did we see the week spreading as far and wide as it has, and it demonstrates that people do like to see and hear about the positive side of nutrition and hydration in social care. It will seem strange not driving the week forward, but it's time for fresh eyes and this should keep the week as a global focus for sharing good practice, current and successful.”

Andy Jones will remain as one of the people who oversee the week and he will be joined by Charlotte Trumper, and if anyone else would like to assist please contact Andy or Charlotte on nhweek@yahoo.com or direct message them on social media.

Jones commented: “Words cannot be said to how special Caroline and Derek have been not only to the driving force behind success of Nutrition and Hydration Week, but to the work they have done for Health and Social Care in their day jobs. I want to take this opportunity to personally thank them for their friendship, guidance and support and wish them a long and happy retirement.”
