Abstract
TV baking stars - MasterChef finalists Billy and Jack, and Great British Bake Off contestants Manon Lagrève, Antony Amourdoux and Ruby Bhogal – have teamed up to run the London half marathon on behalf of Cancer Research UK.

Self-titled ‘The Master Bakers,’ the team hope to raise over £10,000 before the event takes place on 24 March.

Amourdoux commented: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer.

“Everyone knows of someone who has died from a cancer-related illness but thanks to the funding Cancer Research UK provides, slowly but surely more of us know of someone who has beaten cancer.

“I, very sadly, lost my father to cancer, which is why I’m keen to run in support of this charity. I’d like to hear fewer stories like my own.

The charity is also particularly close to Billy, who was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in June 2017.

Amourdoux added: “I’m also very excited to be running alongside Billy who has beaten cancer and is living his life to the full.

“We think he’ll be the first across the finish line but we’re all aiming to be hot on his heels.”

The five-man group will be hosting a joint event ahead of the race to raise additional funds and awareness.
