Tugo’s 4ork brand is going plastic free
Abstract
Tugo, the producer of 'innovative' food concepts for foodservice and retail operators, is challenging plastic pollution as it introduces 100% plastic-free pots for its 4ork brand.

According to the National Geographic Magazine 40% of plastic produced is used for packaging before being discarded. This is equivalent to 161 million tonnes of wasted plastic.

Lee Personius, managing director of Tugo Food Systems, said: “With the continued rise of our fast-paced society taking shorter lunch breaks and eating more food on the move, it’s not hard to see how nearly half of all plastic ever manufactured has been made since the year 2000.

“As a supplier to the foodservice and retail sectors we have a duty to help minimise the impact we have on the environment which is why we have launched our 100% plastic-free pots.

“One of the pillars of our company food philosophy is to increase the amount of recycled materials in our packaging. To this end, our 4ork Street Food pots are made from 100% sustainable sources, are fully biodegradable and compostable, and are FSC certified.”

Tugo is on a 'quest' to take positive steps towards sustainability, encouraging its customers and suppliers to consider their use of plastic too. As a result, Tugo has 'significantly' reduced the amount of packaging it uses and has increased the amount of recycled material used in that packaging to 85%.

The new pots will be sporting a gold lid, to represent a ‘shining halo’ of commitment to the planet.
