Abstract
This year’s ‘unmissable’ TUCO (The University Caterers Organisation) Summer Conference takes place from 24-26th July at St Andrew’s University with the theme ‘Out of the Rough’.

The Summer Conference, will showcase the TUCO family at its finest – supporting one another, celebrating and learning together, leaving members armed with insight from industry experts ready to implement in their institutions across the UK.

Judy Murray, the mother of tennis stars Andy and Jamie, will discuss ‘Developing Potential and a Champion Mindset’ in a keynote session. Food critic, comedian and podcaster Ed Gamble will talk about ‘Tickling Tastebuds’. Other speakers will include entrepreneur Josh Littlejohn, global futurist Rohit Talwar and para-triathlete Karen Darke.

There’ll be the chance to take in a spot of lunch at the Niblick before a tour of the Royal & Ancient World of Golf Museum – rounded off with 18 holes on the infamous Himalaya’s putting course. Or perhaps you’d prefer to learn the secrets of gin and whisky production – with tastings and refreshments – at the Kingsbarn Distillery.

Brakes, which is the TUCO Summer Conference headline sponsor, will be showcasing a selection of street-food inspired dishes that have been devised by Brakes development chef for higher education Colin Salmon on its exhibition stand 263.

He said: “They are packed full of flavour and are perfect for universities, so we encourage delegates to come along and try them, as well as to learn more about the ingredients. We will also be showing the very latest products launched by Brakes, including those that tap into current food trends. And we will be bringing a taste of Scotland to the event with a superb range of products from north of the border which demonstrate the best in provenance and flavour.”

Colin will be joined by Kevin, Lisa, Cathy, and Tanya from the Brakes team to talk to delegates and visitors about all things food and innovation, and to chat through how Brakes can best work with university caterers.

TUCO’s ‘summer spectacular’ is also home to the TUCO Awards: a night of black-tie networking, delicious food and most importantly, celebration of TUCO’s stand out members this year. Sponsored by Britvic, this year’s awards categories are: Rising Star, Innovation, Sustainability, Team of the Year, Member of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement. TUCO Members can book their place at: www.tuco.ac.uk/conference.
