Abstract
Two members of The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) picked up awards at the recent CUBO’s ceremony that acknowledges the achievements of those working in the higher education sector.

Julie Barker, director of accommodation and hospitality services at The University of Brighton, was honoured with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, while The University of York wowed the judges in beating off the competition to take home the coveted ‘Best Catering Service’ award.

Matt White, Chair of TUCO, said: “The challenges faced by university caterers are truly unique so it’s great to see TUCO members being recognised for their commitment to innovating within the industry.”

Barker, one of the winners chosen by the College and University Business Officers (CUBO), said: “It’s such an honour. To know you’ve been nominated by your peers is quite overwhelming. It was completely unexpected.”

Now in its sixth year, the CUBO awards took place on June 28 at the University of Kent.
