Abstract
The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) has announced two new appointments to its board of directors, reflecting its significant growth in the past 12 months and plans to work more closely with in-house catering teams operating across public sector bodies, including health and education.

The two are Amanda Shipley, catering and retail operations manager at the University of Wolverhampton and Alan Riddell, acting deputy director for residential and business services at University of St Andrews.

TUCO chair Julie Barker said: “We have undergone a transformation in the past couple of years, aiming to become an organisation for the future – a model for a 21st century professional Industry organisation which works tirelessly to bring a full package of benefits to its members.

“A key way we are achieving this goal is to ensure we have dynamic, passionate professionals working on our committees and board.

“Each bring with them a unique perspective and creative solutions to the challenges faced by our sector, and a genuine desire to push standards up across the catering industry.

“Both Amanda and Alan have proven themselves valuable assets to their respective workplaces, taking a forward thinking approach to their work and displaying a real commitment to driving excellence in the sector as truly aligns them to TUCO.

“We are delighted to welcome them to the Board where I am sure their skills will add to the already exceptional pool of talent TUCO enjoys.”

She said Shipley added extensive retail expertise to the board, while Riddell strengthened TUCO’s Scottish position as it continues to expand north of the border.

The latest appointments to the TUCO board follow the inclusion of Gavin Brown to its ranks earlier this year.
