Abstract
Ian Reinhardt, general catering manager at Cambridge Trinity College, has been appointed regional chair of Cambridge for TUCO (The University Caterers Organisation). He was selected by members of the local TUCO body to succeed outgoing regional chair Tim Shorey.

Reinhardt will represent members of the Cambridge region to disseminate views and information from the TUCO Board, arrange regional meetings and work closely to update and promote membership.

The appointment is one of a number of announcements from TUCO, after it’s repositioning in October 2013. As well as changes to regional chairs across the country, it has introduced a learning and development manager position to the organisation for the first time.

Speaking of his appointment Reinhardt said: “The University Caterers Organisation has a long-held reputation for supporting members and suppliers in delivering outstanding service, produce and standards to universities throughout the UK.

“Dating back over 50 years, the history and prestige of the organisation can be greatly admired, and I’m looking forward to contributing to this fantastic legacy. I hope my appointment as Cambridge chair will bring some valuable contributions on pertinent issues for in-house university and college catering in our region.”

TUCO Chair Julie Barker added: “Ian’s appointment is a real endorsement of what he has achieved and recognition of what his experience can bring to TUCO. He brings a myriad of admirable qualities to every aspect of his exceptional catering career, we are thrilled to see fellow peers have taken notice and given Ian the opportunity he has thoroughly deserved.

“In the face of tough competition, UK in-house university catering continues to represent high standards and is increasingly considered an important part of an institution’s integrated offer to attract students – alongside accommodation, recreational and leisure facilities, transport infrastructure, academic facilities and resources. Savvy universities are capitalising on this fact and promoting their catering operations as key points of difference.”
