The TUCO Awards celebrate teamwork and also the individuals who work hard to create an innovative catering operation that gets results and creates customer loyalty. The winners included:
- Covid Innovation & Resilience Award: Edge Hill University
- Sustainability Award: University of Chester
- TUCO Team of the Year: Green Shoots Cafe Team - Cardiff University
- Rising Star Award: Amy Maher - University of Huddersfield
- TUCO Member of the Year: University of Bristol
- Outstanding Achievement of the Year Award: Nick Leach- University of Portsmouth
It was the first in-person TUCO Summer Conference since 2019 and it kicked-off with a focus on the theme ‘Breaking the Mould’. The event ‘encouraged members to think outside the box’ when it comes to addressing the challenges of in-house university catering.
The Summer Conference featured keynote speakers such as Tanya and Nadim Laperouse, Matt Pritchard, (known as The Dirty Vegan) as well as Amar Latif.
Amanda Pettingill from the University of Nottingham was named TUCO vice chair. Responding to the announced TUCO chair Phil Rees-Jones said: “A fantastic board decision, future-proofing the TUCO family and joining the great PSC100 Group.”
Matt White, chair of the PSC100 Group, added: “Absolutely fantastic news for TUCO moving forwards with a great succession plan now confirmed and a very competent pair of hands to assist the awesome TUCO chair.”
