Abstract
First Choice Group and Welbilt announced a partnership with BT Final Mile that aims to minimise supply chain costs, reduce downtime for busy operators and to improve engineer efficiency.

Using intelligent technology engineers can collect their required parts from a location that is convenient to them, achieving significant time and cost savings. In a calculation carried out, using BT Final Mile saved Welbilt engineers an average of 9.5 miles per journey, adding up to a total of 40,870 miles per year – equivalent to a carbon footprint saving of 13.9 tonnes annually.

Managing van stocks directly from the First Choice Distribution Centre, BT Final Mile logistics helps to ensure the right part is supplied – enhancing first-time fix rates and maximising uptime on Welbilt equipment.

Mark West, client account director at BT Final Mile, said: “We are delighted to be working with Welbilt and First Choice Group, two fantastic brands in the foodservice industry. Working together, we can improve engineer productivity and reduce the time and cost associated with the supply chain through our final mile locker solutions.

“What’s more, we are also creating a greener, more sustainable future as we now collect directly from the First Choice Distribution Centre, resulting in increased stock availability, far fewer miles travelled and a reduction in engineer visits.”
