Trifocal names nine London boroughs to support initiative
Abstract
Trifocal, the project that helps Londoners to reduce food waste and promotes sustainable eating, has named nine London boroughs to support the initiative.

The project, funded by the European Union (EU) will target households, schools, community groups, hospitality and foodservice businesses and large businesses in the boroughs through communication campaigns later this year.

Liz Goodwin, chair of the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB), announced the boroughs of Bexley, Croydon, Hackney, Hounslow, Islington, Lambeth, Merton, Sutton and Tower Hamlets are to support the project.

Goodwin said: “I want London to become the leading city that others look to for inspiration about how to address some of the pressures all cities are facing, and sustainable consumption and management of food is right at the top of the list.

“The TRiFOCAL project is an exciting opportunity to find solutions. It’s great to be working with WRAP and Groundwork London as well as nine London boroughs and a range of European cities. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve.”

The campaign will include engaging with large businesses and a London harvest festival, which will celebrate the value of food.

LWARB is working in partnership with Waste and Reduction Action Plan (WRAP) as Resource London and with Groundwork London, the environmental regeneration charity, to deliver the project.

The Europe-wide project will also be promoted in the Barcelona, Brussels, Burgas, Dublin, Milan, Olso and Vaxjo.
