Abstract
Reports in the local press have suggested that the Alma international school of cooking could be open for business in Liverpool by 2010.
Cllr Flo Clucas, Liverpool's executive member for Europe, told the Liverpool Echo: "To establish an international school of cooking in the city would hopefully mean Liverpool sets the example for the whole of the UK." Talks are now taking place between the council and the cookery school, which trains chefs to become Italian cuisine experts. It is possible a five-star restaurant will accompany the school. Councillors are viewing the school as an addition that could benefit the whole city. They have suggested that Alma would be linked to degree courses, healthy eating initiatives in schools and other community-led projects.
