Top footballers kick healthy eating into shape

30th Sep 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Some of Europe's top footballers have joined forces to launch a children's cookery book with the aim promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Stars including Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy and Bayern Munich's Miroslav Klose all contributed recipes of their favourite dishes and explained what they love to eat. UEFA, the World Heart Federation (WHF) and the European Commission came together to launch the book and president of the WHF Professor Pekka Puska said: "20% of all European children are currently overweight, showing how important initiatives such as Eat for Goals! are as they encourage healthy nutrition and active lifestyles among children and their parents in a fun and inspirational way." Ruud van Nistelrooy explained more: "It's vital that children have a healthy lifestyle based on healthy food and exercise. I'm looking forward to cooking the recipes in Eat for Goals! with my children when they're older." The book is aimed towards children aged between five and 11 and is published in English, French and German. It is available to order online: www.falkemedia-shop.de
