Weatherbys, the main provider of adminstrative services for the British Horseracing Authority, picked up the prize at an awards dinner at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate Theatre on 15 November.
The judging process was carried out over seven months through tasting panels, mystery shopping visits, cook-offs and public voting.
Gary Eldershaw, head of facilities at Weatherbys said: ‘’Having worked in partnership with our on-site catering team T(n)S Management Ltd for the last five years, they have successfully enhanced our catering offering whilst working towards developing a food provision delivering a balanced and healthy alternative to the standard choices usually offered in the workplace.
"Winning this accolade really does highlight the hard work and commitment which has been shown by both organisations in developing a service which goes above and beyond our expectations at Weatherbys.”
Leamington Spa based T(n)S' operation at Weatherbys is overseen by chef and manager Matthew Edwards.
Edwards and his team caters for up to 200 staff at the head office restaurant where the offering includes hot sections, salad and deli bars plus grab & go items.
This year it introduced 'The Bullet Bar' which enables staff to fill their cups with fresh fruit or vegetables, adding liquids for blitzing in a bullet machine making their own smoothies.
The range of food and drink offered is a heathy ratio of nearly 90%, according to T(n)S, with only fruit displayed at the till point with staff "actively selling fruit to boost meals".
