Abstract
The clock is ticking for creative local authority school cooks to win a MasterChef experience by entering the McCain Simply One Pot Meal competition.

Entrants have until midnight on the March 31st 2016 to be in with the chance of being a part of the live final cook-off in Worcestershire.

The competition is designed to encourage cooks to discover the benefits of one pot cooking and products in the McCain Simply range.

Anne Bull, former LACA Chair and competition judge, said: “The competition celebrates the creativity and hard work of school cooks, as well as promoting the quality, nutritious food they produce. Schools can even use the competition to speak to parents about school meals and potentially increase uptake.”

The five finalists and their line managers will dine and stay at Eckington Manor cooking school, where chef Mark Strinchcombe has just been named MasterChef: The Professionals winner for 2016.

To win, school cooks employed by local authorities need to channel their creative energy into producing a one pot recipe using at least one of the products from the McCain Simply range, and other ingredients, to create a balanced dish, full of flavours pupils love.

The overall winner will receive an all expenses paid cookery course for two at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage HQ.

Last year’s winner Beverley Paterson, from Scottish Borders, won with her Leek and Mustard Vegetarian Hot Pot.
