The research also found that people were more likely to visit an independent restaurant (68%) in comparison to a chain eatery (32%). High Speed Training ran a campaign on social media to #supportlocal throughout lockdown.
Dr Richard Anderson, head of learning and development at High Speed Training, said: “While early numbers of those returning to eat out is small, it is reassuring to see that small independents have the public’s support The Eat Out to Help Out scheme is a fantastic way to ensure our treasured hospitality industry thrives once more.
“From independents to large chains, discounted prices to entice the public back to their favourite establishment in August will mean hospitality workers’ livelihoods are protected and people are encouraged to go out for a meal again.”
The Eat Out to Help Out scheme was launched today (3 August) to encourage people to eat at restaurants.
You can use the Eat Out to Help Out scheme:
- All day, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 31 August 2020.
- Offer a 50% discount on food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in (up to a maximum of £10 discount per diner).
- Claim the money back from the Government.
