Abstract
Foodservice supplier Brakes has added three more suppliers to its continuing Virtual Food Engagement Event – Häagen-Dazs, the luxury ice cream brand, Vegware, specialists in plant-based compostable catering disposables and Love Taste Co., a maker of premium, award-winning smoothies.

“The event is a really innovative way of showcasing suppliers and their products during lockdown,’ says Hayley Dobbs, regional sales manager, Regency Purchasing Group.

“The site is easy to use, and informative, with support from a host of major brands. Navigation is simple and, even better, every customer can see their own pricing. Along with supplier profiles there are details on allergens, new products, cooking instructions, menu suggestions and even competitions - it’s a must for all caterers looking at reviewing their food offer post lockdown.”

“The event has exceeded all of our expectations,’ adds Leon French, Brakes’s customer marketing director.

“We invited our customers to attend and have also made the event open to all caterers looking for ideas and support. Coverage of the event in the press and on social media has been tremendous and the feedback from visitors and suppliers has been incredibly positive and humbling. The stands are constantly being updated so I encourage everybody to get online before the event ends on August 21st.”

He says the event is believed to be the first of its kind within hospitality and had received encouraging reviews from suppliers and operators as the sector begins to emerge from lockdown.

Once visitors have accessed the event ‘hub’ - which contains a virtual map detailing all the supplier stands – they can access information from each of the brands including relevant products, promotions, recipes, guides and useful hints and tips to help operators adapt, respond, and emerge stronger.

The Virtual Food Engagement Event, which is part of the “Stronger With Brakes” initiative, runs until the 21st August, and can be accessed by visiting www.brake.co.uk/virtual-food-event.
