Abstract
To help care home staff spot signs of insufficient hydration, Tetley and Brakes have partnered to launch a dedicated Hydration Kit for the care sector.

As well as offering tips for best hydration practices, it also includes recipes, tea pairing tips and activity sheets and games designed to “keep residents happy, healthy and hydrated.”

What’s more, the companies hope that the kit will spark conversation and encourage residents to reminisce about the past – taking them on a journey through the decades with activates such as a roaring twenties afternoon tea, armchair exercises inspired by 1980s fitness videos and meal ideas such as tapioca pudding and coronation chicken.

Senior brand manager of out of home at Tetley, Marshall Kingston, commented: “Tetley is dedicated to providing education to highlight the significance of tea in maintaining sufficient nutrition and hydration in patients, staff and visitors alike.

“The launch of these Hydration Kits is an extension of this. When creating the kits, we followed best-practice professional guidance to ensure all activities and recipes were suitable for the care sector and would be enjoyed by residents nationwide.”

Cathy Amos, Brakes senior sector development and marketing manager of catering, added: “Brakes is delighted to have worked with Tetley to create these Hydration Kits for care homes across the country.

“We first teamed up with the team during this year’s Nutrition and Hydration week hosting an afternoon tea at Maitland Park Care Home in Camden. The afternoon was a real success and a great chance to see how well received the kits would be in care environments.”
