Of the 2,000 managers and workers surveyed:
- 90% of managers said ‘feeling part of a team is an important factor in employee happiness’
- 80% of managers agreed that workers spending more time together would benefit employee effectiveness
- 80% of employees said coffee breaks with colleagues helps to strengthen office relationships
- 50% said taking a break helps to refocus and recharge, the same amout that it makes them more creative in the workplace
- 60% work harder when they feel part of a team
That said, employees cited flexible working as top factor for making them happier at work; and the key attribute that manager’s believe employees are looking for from an ‘employer of choice’.
Nestlé Professional sales director and workplace channel lead, Steve Norris, said: “The research shows that a happy and cohesive team is a key factor to business success, particularly when it comes to productivity, staff retention and boosting employee morale.
“The survey also recognises the importance of taking a break to help strengthen office relationships and employee effectiveness.
Conducted to mark the launch of its Nescafé Dolce Gusto Majesto coffee machine, Norris added: “It’s with this in mind that Nestlé is launching the Nescafé Dolce Gusto Majesto coffee machine – designed to bring teams together it offers a variety of drinks for all preferences”.
