The competition is aimed at student chefs of any age working in the UK, who will be tasked with creating an original and flavoursome street food recipe for four persons that uses one of the Tabasco sauces, which includes: original red, green jalapeño, chipotle and habanero variants.
These recipes can be based on any global cuisine, but must be prepared and served in 90 minutes, and judges will be looking for innovative use of ingredients and how the Tabasco sauce has been incorporated into the dish, as well as its ease of service in a street food environment.
Finalists will be short-listed from the paper entries and invited to cook, prepare and present their dishes before a team of judges comprising senior members of the Craft Guild of Chefs at the University of West London on November 4.
Top prize for the winning chef is a trip to the home of Tabasco – Avery Island in Lafayette, Louisiana – to experience the region’s cuisine and culture, accompanied by their chef lecturer.
They will follow in the footsteps of last year's winner Katherine Edwards from South Downs College, who along with her chef lecturer Sean Denny, won the fabulous trip.
Closing date for entries is October 11 2013. Click here for an entry form. Entries should be sent to the Craft Guild of Chefs or emailed to craftguild@btconnect.com
