When Brits were asked what the ‘best’ kind of carvery meat is, 44% opted for beef followed by chicken and turkey respectively. There was a clear divide when it came to gender with men on average preferring beef and women selecting chicken.
Britain overwhelmingly voted gravy as the best sauce, with 72% of the vote. Mint sauce (29%) was in second place followed by cranberry sauce (24%) in third place. Over one in five 18-24-year-olds have mayonnaise with their carvery compared to just 5% of over 55-year-olds.
Roast potatoes were voted the ‘single most important element’ to a carvery, winning over half of the vote (56%) with Yorkshire puddings (15%) finishing second and stuffing in third with just 5% of the vote. Scots were revealed as unlikely sprout lovers, with Aberdeen crowned the UK’s ‘most sprout loving city’.
