Almost a third of Brits worry about not getting enough nutrients in diet
Abstract
A recent YouGov survey, commissioned by the British Nutrition Foundation, found that 32% of Brits are worried they are not getting enough nutrients as the cost of loving continues bite.

The survey results were announced during Healthy Eating Week (12-16th June), which aims to provide free evidence led, age-appropriate resources to support healthy eating for every budget.

The survey also found that 68% of people have changed their weekly shopping patterns due to the cost of living crisis. Over a quarter of those surveyed said they have concerns about being able to afford enough fruit and vegetables to ensure their family eats well.

During Healthy Eating Week, the Foundation will be offering simple, easy-to-implement tips that can help everyone toward a healthy sustainable diet. These age-appropriate resources can be used in schools and workplace settings and are based on five basic yet important elements:

  • Focus on fibre
  • Get at least five a day
  • Vary your protein
  • Stay hydrated
  • Reduce food waste

Elaine Hindal, chief executive of the British Nutrition Foundation said: “Having a healthy diet is essential for well-being and plays a key role in children’s growth and development. We believe everyone should have access to information that can help them make informed decisions about eating healthily.

“With our free resources, we are sharing tips and ideas that can be easily implemented – even with busy lives and in the context of cost-of-living pressures. The ideas are simple and easy, but using them consistently can make a big difference in our diets and lifestyle.”
