Abstract
Jack Cunnell from Suffolk New College won the coveted title of National Juniorchef 2008 at the Thanet College's National Final.
The competition, run in conjunction with Compass Group and the Craft Guild of Chefs, saw eight budding chefs battle it out for the title. The 15 year-old's winning dish featured Noisette of Smoked Spring Lamb with Fondant Potatoes, Beetroot Puree and Moral Sauce, followed by a Milk Chocolate and Banana Mousse with Amaretto Ice Cream. Celebrity chef Gary Rhodes spent the day at the College watching and judging the young chefs battle it out along with Simon Bean, executive chef at P&O Ferries (sponsors), and Neil Wiggins, executive chef at Eastwell Manor. Rhodes commented: "I am truly amazed at the skill and calibre that these young chefs possess and would welcome every one of them into my kitchens." The competition took place on the 16 May.
